Aims & Objectives


CECA's main objectives are:
 
1) To ensure that CECA is fully representational of British civil engineering contractors
 
2) To promote and lobby effectively on behalf of civil engineering contractors
 
3) To provide an effective range of services to CECA members and regional companies
 
 
As part of its work, CECA ensures that major industry issues are monitored and addressed as appropriate. These include:

 
Image of the Industry - CECA works to promote a beneficial image of the industry to both Government and the public.
 
State of the Industry - CECA's authoritative quarterly Workload Trends Survey is conducted to keep members informed of trends in investment and workload amongst contractors. It provides statistics and analysis by work sector, by region and by size of firm. It also provides information on the availability of skills within the industry. The Survey's results and analysis are available from CECA.
 
Transport Infrastructure - CECA's Transport Group comprises some of the leading players in the industry. The Group considers major transport developments and their long and short term effects on the industry and the country. Their comments and analyses are available from CECA.
 
Political Initiatives - CECA responds to relevant consultation documents issued by Government and other bodies where these include proposals that may affect is members. CECA compiles INFO sheets setting out its views on particular subjects and disseminates these to key decision makers and others whom it wishes to influence. Contact is maintained with all political parties both with individual MPs and researchers and through discussion groups. Lobbying is undertaken on issues as appropriate and where considered necessary.
 
Sustainable Construction - Sustainability is responsible stewardship of natural, human and financial resources through a practical and balanced approach. Sustainability requires consideration of the project delivery process to ensure the effects of the built environment and the natural environment are fully appreciated and balanced.
 
CECA therefore encourages:
 
1) Efficient use of resources, minimising raw material consumption
2) Resource reuse, whilst maintaining financial stewardship
3) The move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy sources
4) The creation of a healthy working environment for all stakeholders of a project
5) The protection and, where appropriate, restoration of the natural environment.
