CECA

CECA Forums

CECA operates a number of sector-specific groups for members:

CECA Roads Forum

The purpose of the CECA Roads Forum is:

  • To facilitate the sharing of information and knowledge of road sector matters. Typically this will include briefings from client and other specialist organisations about upcoming programmes, projects or key interest topics such as procurement, skills, diversity, sustainability, environment or materials.
  • To provide an industry voice for CECA members on key subjects and liaison with clients on procurement, contractual models and other matters.
  • To provide opportunity to develop relationships which strengthen and develop the membership’s businesses.

The Roads Forum generally meets three times a year with three external speakers invited to give short presentations across a range of highway related topics. Recent speakers have included representatives from Highways England, DfT, TfL, ORR, Carillion, Mineral Products Association, CIHT and Aggregate Industries.

CECA Energy Forum

The CECA Energy Forum aims to be a forum for sharing best practice and supporting the development of UK energy policy with respect to civil engineering matters. The forum embraces all energy markets and technologies, including but not limited to:

  • Nuclear (including new build, decommissioning and operational support);
  • Other thermal technologies/abatement measures (fossil, biomass, waste to energy, combined heat and power, carbon capture and storage, selective catalytic reduction, flue gas desulphurisation);
  • Renewables (onshore/offshore wind, tidal, solar);
  • Energy networks and national grid; and
  • Energy efficiency and district heating.

The Energy Forum generally meets two or three times a year with external speakers invited to give short presentations across a range of energy related topics. Recent speakers have included representatives from DECC, BEIS, RenewableUK, National Grid, Association for Decentralised Energy, UK Power Networks, Energy UK and Cavendish Nuclear.

CECA Transport Group

The CECA Transport Group has a similar remit to the Roads Forum except it focuses on transportation generally rather than highways specifically. The Group takes a particular interest in the interface between different modes of transport and how transport policy needs to be developed to support the wider UK economy. It looks at:

  • Airports
  • Sea Ports
  • Developments in Transport Technology
  • Light Rail and Mass Transit
  • Regional Connectivity
  • Transport Policy

The Transport Group generally meets twice a year. Recent presentation topics have included London City Airport, Construction Post-Brexit, England’s Economic Heartland, Autonomous Vehicles, Thamesmead Development, Manchester Airport, Port of Liverpool and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles.
