This section provides details of CECA's activities to ensure sustained improvements to the health and safety of those working in the UK civil engineering sector.
Leading the industry in terms of its efforts to improve the health and safety record of the civil engineering sector, CECA is directly involved in shaping the debate through a number of activities with key umbrella organisations, namely:
CECA is also actively engaged with major contractors involved in strategic infrastructure projects such as HS2, where CECA members are working with the overall client to develop an approach to health and safety which will have a positive lasting legacy on the entire workforce.
Other initiatives inclue CECA's Health & Safety Strategy and Action Plan, and the Health Management Toolkit. CECA collates accident statistics, producing benchmark accident figures for the whole of the civil engineering sector. CECA also operates an 'Alert System', that rapidly informs members of accidents that may have implications for their own works.
CECA, in conjunction with an external legal team, have developed a unique and extremely engaging 'Mock Trial' learning tool where the audience listen to a scripted prosecution - this is proving to be a real alternative to formal H&S training.
An updated Health Management Toolkit (September 2016) is available to CECA members via the members' area.
