CECA's Infrastructure Horizons presents a series of toolkits for use by infrastructure contractors that provide a snapshot of emerging markets in the UK's civil engineering sector.
So far, six toolkits have been launched, covering the nuclear sector, the UK's wind industry, broadband, shale gas extraction, biomass power generation, and carbon capture & storage. It is hoped that CECA members will make use of the toolkits to provide their workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in these growing markets in the coming years. CECA plans to present a number of seminars to accompany the toolkits, at which CECA members will be able to meet relevant stakeholders and representatives of the supply chain to equip their companies to diversify their operations.
The project has been generously supported by the CITB, the Industry Training Board and a partner in the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales. The CITB works with construction companies to help them improve skills, increase their competitive edge, and respond to the many opportunities opening up in the infrastructure sector - from the low-carbon agenda, through to reducing costs on-site and recruiting the best and brightest talent for the industry's future.
