2011/12 Priorities

CECA Scotland Priorities 2011/12

Health & Safety:  

Represent members' interests with HSE including through membership of the Site Safe Scotland Committee, the Working Well Together SHAD working group and other bodies.

Promote occupational health and behavioural safety.

Circulate health & safety information to the membership.

Workload:

Lobby politicians in Holyrood, Westminster and local authorities on infrastructure investment, procurement, contract conditions and payment (including retentions).

Meet key clients to discuss programmes, procurement, forms of contract and payment matters (including retentions).

Economic Recovery:

Lobby politicians in Holyrood, Westminster, and local authorities on increasing and/or accelerated infrastructure investment, improving banking arrangements and adopting prudence with tender lists and prices.

Simplifying Prequalification:

Promote good prequalification practice with government, clients and other agencies, including the development of the Scottish Government's standard prequalification questionnaire (sPQQ).

Community Benefits:

Lobby Holyrood for consistency in Scottish public sector community benefit requirements in construction projects.

Qualifying the Workforce:

Promote CSCS (and its equivalents) with government, clients and other agencies.

Represent members' interests with ConstructionSkills, SBATC, SDS, CSCS, CPCS and SQA.

Environment:

Represent members' interests with SEPA and other agencies including the production of joint guidance to assist members.

Support the work of Zero Waste Scotland.

Utilities & Services:

Represent industry in liaison with Scotland's utility providers, road authorities and other agencies.
