CECA Scotland Strategy

 

 

Health & Safety

 

Represent members with HSE including engagement with the Site Safe Scotland Committee, Safety Groups, the Working Well Together SHAD Working Group, and other bodies.

Represent members’ interests in liaising with Scotland’s utility providers, road authorities, and other agencies, to reduce the incidence of service strikes for both safety and commercial reasons, including engagement with the Utilities Service Avoidance Group Scotland.

Promote best practice and circulate current and relevant health & safety information to the membership, including details of the 2017 Stop. Make a Change. campaign

 

 

Promoting Infrastructure

 

Engage at Holyrood, Westminster and with other public sector bodies on infrastructure investment.

 

Meet key clients to discuss programmes, procurement, forms of contract and payment matters.

 

 

Procurement

 

Engage with the Scottish Government, Scottish Futures Trust, local authorities, clients and other agencies to streamline the procurement process.

 

 

Contract Conditions &

Payment

 

 

Engage with the Scottish Government, local authorities, clients and other agencies to promote fair conditions of contacts and payment terms throughout the supply chain.

 

 

Securing the Best People &

Training the Workforce

 

 

Provide information to members on the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy and on the CITB consensus process. 

Represent members’ interest with CITB, SBATC, SDS, CSCS, CPCS, and SQA, to ensure members recruit high-calibre people and have access to focussed and relevant training

Deliver a programme of training courses aimed at management staff.

Manage the CECA Scotland Awards for the Civil Engineering Apprentice of the Year, Most Promising Technician, Most Promising Technician, Most Promising New Entrant Trainee Civil Engineer, and Most Promising Trainee Quantity Surveyor.

 

 

Environment

 

Represent members’ interests with SEPA, SNH, ZWS and other agencies, including in the production of guidance for members.
