CECA’s 30 Projects for 30 Years campaign continues with the Tywi Valley Path in Carmarthenshire.
With sections delivered by Walters UK and TRJ – T Richard Jones (Betws) Ltd for Carmarthenshire County Council, the £18.7 million scheme has transformed the route of a former railway line into a landmark 13-mile walking, cycling and wheeling path between Carmarthen and Llandeilo.
The project is supporting sustainable travel, healthier lifestyles and tourism, while improving access to local services, heritage sites and visitor attractions across one of Wales’s most scenic rural landscapes. With careful environmental planning,
biodiversity considerations, and major engineering works including bridges over the rivers Towy and Cothi, the Tywi Valley Path demonstrates the long-term value of civil engineering in connecting communities, protecting the environment, and supporting regional economic growth.A fantastic example of infrastructure delivering lasting benefits for local people and visitors alike.
