Lewis Curtis of Walters UK is the latest young professional to feature in CECA’s ‘30 Under 30’ campaign, celebrating emerging talent across civil engineering as part of our 30th anniversary.
Inspired by his grandad’s passion for construction, Lewis studied Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol, graduating in July 2025 with an upper second-class honours master’s degree. He joined Walters that August and has since been putting his academic knowledge into practice while developing his skills on site.
Lewis supports the smooth running of site activities by preparing risk assessments and method statements, completing and processing surveys, managing equipment and materials, and issuing permits when required. A particular highlight has been independently completing a full as-built survey from start to finish, marking an early achievement in his engineering career.
Working alongside specialist subcontractors is one of the aspects of the job Lewis enjoys most, giving him opportunities to learn from their expertise and broaden his understanding of construction techniques. Looking ahead, he aims to become a highly experienced engineer, leading teams and overseeing major projects at Walters.
