Our ‘30 Under 30’ series celebrates the emerging talent helping to shape the future of civil engineering. This profile features Michaela Baldock, a Site Agent at Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK who has progressed from Apprentice Engineer to a senior site leadership role in just over nine years.
At 27, Michaela leads a team of more than 250 people on the £70 million Sanquhar II Wind Farm project in Scotland, helping deliver major renewable energy infrastructure. She combined practical experience on live construction sites with studying for a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, building the technical and management skills that underpin her progress.
Her experience also includes leading quality assurance on the £300 million North Kyle Wind Farm. Alongside project delivery, Michaela mentors apprentices and trainee engineers, supports schools and careers events, and promotes civil engineering as a rewarding career.
Now working towards chartership, Michaela hopes to progress into project and contracts management while continuing to support the next generation of engineers. Her career demonstrates the opportunities apprenticeships offer to develop skills, take on responsibility and lead major infrastructure projects.
