Salary: Dependent on experience and location (Location is flexible – with an expectation of regular travel and meetings in London)

About the role
As Policy and Public Affairs Director, you will be responsible for the management of CECA Ltd. Working directly for the board and working with key stakeholders to ensure its long-term success. You will implement strategic planning, political & stakeholder engagement, operational management and member services ensuring that the organisation continues to provide value and influence to the whole of CECA membership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Management – Develop and implement a future vision, ensuring the organisation remains a strong and influential voice for its members.
Policy & Advocacy – Represent the industry at National and regional levels, engaging with policymakers, government and regulators to influence policy and be the voice of CECA members.
Membership Engagement – Drive initiatives to attract and retain members, ensuring they receive high value support and opportunities for collaboration.
Operational Management – Oversee the organisations day to day operation, ensuring financial sustainability, developing and driving a high-performance team, compliance and effective governance. There will also be a requirement to drive revenue generation aligned to the organisations core pillars.
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement – Build strong relationships with industry leaders, government bodies, partner organisations and CECA Ltd network to enhance the organisations reputation and impact.
Leadership – Lead by example with integrity and honesty, inspiring a small but passionate team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration.
Key Attributes
- A strategic manager who understands the power of membership organisations and advocacy.
- Experience engaging with government, policymakers and regulatory bodies to influence policy decisions.
- The successful candidate will have a good understanding of government, the public sector and procurement, and be familiar with the key issues facing the civil engineering industry along with a broad knowledge of the organisations delivering infrastructure within the UK.
- Ability to be the face of the organisation, engaging members, stakeholders, government and media effectively. An individual who is prepared to lead by example, fostering a culture of trust and transparency with members, staff and the board.
- The successful individual will demonstrate a strong track record of inspiring leadership, managing a dedicated team, an excellent communicator, relationship builder and problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment.
- Ideally, they will have a reputation across the industry and public sector for their integrity and trust and will have earned a personal reputation for themselves with business leaders and industry influencers.
- Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to represent the organisation at the highest levels.
Qualifications/Experience
The successful individual will have a proven track record in policy and public affairs. The applicant should demonstrate that they have all or most of the key attributes and have relevant management and/or industry experience.
