Great visit to Seymour Skills Academy to see and hear about the ways the academy is supporting people from all backgrounds with their pathway into the industry.
Sarah and Donna from the Skills Academy who are clearly passionate about the courses, guidance and advice they offer were on hand to talk about the various courses and activities going on as well as how they plan to promote the services to various groups who may not normally be able to access these courses. Another great way to strengthen the talent pipeline into the industry.
Skills Bootcamp
The second cohort of students have now completed the latest Skills Bootcamp which to date has been a hugely successful programme. The Bootcamp which is a collaboration between the North East Institute of Technology (NEIoT), anchor partner Esh Construction, Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), Tees Valley Combined authority (TVCA), Hartlepool College of Further Education and Seymour Civil Engineering has been an amazing step forward in creating a fast-track route into groundworks roles by supporting new entrants into the industry to secure employment and providing employers with new talent to strengthen their skilled workforce.
A great example of what can be achieved when we work together with a shared vision.
CECA are now working with the skills academy to find employment with its members for the students, and we look forward to seeing them find employment and progress in the industry.

The Gateway to Construction Course
Another successful course running at the academy is the Gateway to Construction. Whether this be an entry way into a role or feed into an apprenticeship course. This 6-week course equips learners with a great set of introductory skills and knowledge to enter employment with a head start.
As part of the course the learner will complete their CSCS card to allow immediate site access and cover various site activities such as Health and Safety, Slinger/Signaller, Road Roller and Abrasive Wheel Awareness.
CECA look forward to continuing the close relationship with the Seymour Skills Academy.
