A webinar introduced by CECA Wales and CARES and delivered by Dave Knight, Sustainability Advisor for CARES
This hour long lunchtime webinar will be jointly presented by Ed Evans of CECA Wales and Dave Knight of CARES, the UK Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels.
It will focus on responsible design and sourcing relating to the use of constructional steels in building and infrastructure design and construction. This will allow CECA Wales members to better understand how to responsibly design and source construction steels and will raise the awareness of the sustainability impacts of constructional steels, especially at manufacturing and sourcing stages, highlighting opportunities to reduce these during the early stages of a project. It will also explain how the not-for-profit 3rd party certified CARES Sustainable Constructional Steels scheme and Environmental Product Declarations can inform design and build decision making.
Why does this matter for contractors? Being able to identify responsible sources of steel is becoming increasingly important for clients and the wider supply chain in being able to reduce the carbon and social impacts of steel, themes which are increasingly appearing in tender documents. It explores these themes bringing in the latest evidence and thinking from industry associations and professional bodies.
