The CECA Wales Foundation Group is formed of five young Welsh professionals from civil engineering & construction companies operating across Wales.

What are the aims of the group?

  • To promote the construction sector amongst young people.
  • To develop future generations of professionals and encourage them into the industry.
  • To represent the young professionals already in the industry.
  • To promote apprenticeships, traineeships, and mid-career transitions.
  • To connect like-minded people whose ambition is to future-proof Wales’ infrastructure.

What is your favourite thing about working in construction?

Having the opportunity to work on a variety of different Civil Engineering projects from start to finish across Wales.

Hobbies – Mountain Biking, Climbing & Running

What is your greatest career achievement so far?

I am proud to have been part of the team who constructed the Caernarfon and Bontnewydd Bypass in Gwynedd, North Wales. During the project, I progressed individually as an Engineer. I also mentored trainee engineers who were starting their career in the construction industry.


Jack Little

Age – 22

What is your favourite thing about working in construction?

Progress & improvements are rewarded & recognised. The opportunity to travel the country and meet other industry professionals.

Hobbies – Exploring the outdoors, physical fitness & socialising!

What is your greatest career achievement so far?

Pursuing a career in an industry I knew little about & gaining a position at Knights Brown Construction as a trainee. During my time, I have successfully assisted in delivering cost-effective projects in Cardiff city centre.


Jordan Williams

What is your favourite thing about working in construction?

Freedom: there are many avenues available and the experience you earn can take you anywhere in the world. You become a well-rounded individual who can complete a wide range of tasks, making yourself indispensable!

Hobbies – Swimming, surfing, singing and acting

What is your greatest career achievement so far?

I’m proud of my development from Graduate to Site Engineer to assistant to the Chief Engineer at Andrew Scott Limited. It’s proof the opportunities are out there if you chase them.


Rebecca Lloyd

What is your favourite thing about working in construction?

The variety of people you get to meet, there are endless amounts of invaluable knowledge, advice, and guidance.

Hobbies – Hockey, exploring outdoors and socialising with friends

What is your greatest career achievement so far?

One of my greatest achievements to date was being nominated for the CECA Wales Trainee QS of The Year 2022. The industry is incredibly rewarding, and I am proud to be a part of it.


Sam Knowles MRICS

Age – 28

What is your favourite thing about working in construction?

Managing a variety of unique, challenging, and sensitive projects with values ranging from £100K to £50M. It’s rewarding to work on such diverse schemes that include road networks, structures, waste management, renewable energy, and housing development infrastructure. To know that my work contributes to building a sustainable future and leaves a lasting legacy is a significant motivator. Collaborating and delivering these projects was crucial for my career progression and the development of my industry knowledge.

Hobbies – Golf and triathlon.

What is your greatest career achievement so far?

It gives me great pleasure to have played a crucial role in supporting Walters to successfully lead and execute numerous projects from a commercial aspect, whilst simultaneously having the privilege of mentoring numerous apprentice/trainee quantity surveyors.
