In this video, University of Bath student Niamh Butterfield reflects on her receiving a prestigious award from CECA South West for her outstanding performance during a year-long placement. Niamh won the University of Bath Industrial Placement Award, sponsored by Babcock, at the #cecasouthwestawards ceremony in Torquay in recognition of her work with Bristol-based Kier Construction, arranged as part of her university course. She excelled in everything she did during her time with the design management team, working on numerous schemes, grabbing hold of every opportunity, and even winning a Kier Value & Impact Award for her leadership in renovating a charitable independent living scheme.
Paul Santer, CECA South West Regional Director, commented: “Niamh’s enthusiasm, initiative and talent shone through during her placement year, and it’s clear she is at the start of an exciting career journey with lots of opportunities ahead. She’s also a great role model for other young women to join civil engineering construction and help build the energy, transport, environmental and defence infrastructure we need for a sustainable and prosperous economic future.”
The CECA South West Awards are presented annually in recognition of exceptional performance. As the winner of the Industrial Placement Award, Niamh received an inscribed trophy and cheque for £750. Congratulations to Niamh and all the award winners. #cecasouthwestawards
