Harry Blannin wins recognition at the CECA South West 2022 Young Achiever Awards

Plymouth University student, Harry Blannin, has received a CECA South West Young Achiever Award for the quality of his work during a placement year in industry. Harry undertook the placement with Teignmouth Maritime Services Ltd (TMS) as part of the Stage 3 Module on his Civil and Coastal Engineering Course at the University, during which he worked on many different and varied projects all over the UK including: Noss Marina Control Building Overwater Foundations (Noss MCB) on the River Dart, Glasgow Deep Water Berth Alterations (Glasgow DWBA), Portsmouth Fountain Lake Capital Dredging, and Stonehaven Harbour Wall Repairs (piling) in Aberdeenshire. Towards the end of the placement, TMS decided that they were so pleased with Harry’s performance, that a graduate job offer was made to him for when he completes his university course. Speaking at the presentation in Torquay, Phil Ramsden, Chair, CECA South West, said: “Throughout his placement, Harry was presented with, and overcame, some incredible challenges, gaining valuable experience on which to build a successful career in civil engineering.

The CECA South West Young Achiever Awards are presented annually in recognition of exceptional performance, with each winner receiving a trophy and cheque for £500.
