The recruitment of graduates and undergraduates into the infrastructure sector is seen as vital for introducing the skills of talented individuals to our businesses. However, many new entrants enter the industry lacking some of the knowledge, skills and awareness to support their ongoing professional development and enable them to perform at the highest level on site.

To address this, CECA Southern has developed a structured New Entrants’ Programme that will provide those working in trainee Civil Engineering roles with an introduction to some of the processes they will be employing or supervising as their career progresses.

This is a 5-day residential programme of practical and technical workshops to develop a basic understanding a of site skills.

The programme is aimed at apprentices, graduates and technicians and will give them an appreciation of common Civil Engineering activities in a controlled environment, thus enabling them to work more safely and effectively on sites.

It will comprise the following topics:

  • Steel-fixing
  • Formworking
  • Concrete technology
  • Excavations support
  • Plant appreciation
  • Drainage
  • Working at height

Venue: National Construction College, CITB, Bircham Newton, Kings Lynn, Norfolk PE31 6RH
