Meeting the Challenges – CECA Wales’ workplan for 2026

Every year our CECA Wales board considers the challenges that faces our sector for the year ahead and we set out our plans to support our members in meeting those challenges. This year is no different and we’re launching our “Meeting the Challenges 2026” report today. You can view the document online via this link : https://www.ceca.co.uk/ceca-wales-meeting-the-challenges-of-2026-march-2026 or click on the visual above to read about our plans for 2026. And please share it with your colleagues.

The plan is based on our 5 core pillars which you’ll be familiar with by now :

As well as reflecting on activities in 2025, the report highlights a number of activities planned for 2026 and the following are likely to take up much of our resources :

  • Taking forward groundworker training hubs/alliances in the north and south – you will start to see marketing material appear shortly, setting out the services offered by the alliances.
  • Developing resources to better engage with schools and to support their curriculum – this aligns with our aims of attracting more people to the sector.
  • Increased engagement with clients particularly in the energy and ports sectors.

It’s also probably worth sharing our “Policy Recommendations for the 2026 Senedd Election” report with you again too (Publications – CECA), as many of the items that we’re progressing in our business plan also feature in this report as we seek to influence the priorities of the political parties.

You’ll also note, within the report, that our Foundation Group has already produced one of their objectives for the year which is their new careers brochure titled “Ever thought of a civil engineering career in Wales?” I won’t say anything more at this stage other than it will be formally launched shortly with hardcopies sent to all of our members for them to use in their engagement with schools.

Drop me a line if you want to discuss any elements of the report and, even better, let me know if you’d like to contribute to any of the activities.
