This workshop will introduce you to the latest developments impacting on CECA Wales members in the world of taxation, employment law, pensions and occupational health.  It is aimed at HR Managers, Payroll Managers, Financial Managers, Senior Managers, Managers, Directors and anyone responsible for finance, taxation and payroll issues within their organisations.

Speaker: Gerry Lean, CECA Employment Law Advisor, who will cover a number of topics including:

  • National Minimum Wage & Living Wage
  • Sickness while on Holiday
  • Calculation of Holiday Pay – the latest position
  • BREXIT – Possible Employment Law Implications
  • Shared Parental Leave
  • Modern Day Slavery Act 2015
  • Statutory Payments – Redundancy SSP/SMP/SAP
  • CIJC Matters – The latest Pay Settlement, etc
  • Gender Pay Gap Reporting

Taxation Issues

Speaker: Liz Bridge, CECA Taxation Advisor

Liz Bridge will talk about the significant change to the VAT regime which is on the horizon for construction companies – Reverse Charge VAT which is due to be introduced in October 2019 but which will need significant upfront work by companies to adjust to this change.

She will also give a background on the forthcoming changes which are known as Making Tax Digital. Despite the boring title, this is a revolution in tax compliance and payment and will start within the next two years for most construction businesses.

Finally, Liz will pick up on a number of other issues which can impact on companies, including the payment of travel and lodging expenses, as well as other allowances.

Pensions and Occupational Health

Speaker: Andrew Percy of B & CE Pensions

Andrew will provide delegates with the latest developments in auto enrolment and how B & CE are introducing occupational health systems in the workplace.
